44. A CURSE

  • 5 Nov, 2025

NIYATI

I’ve spent years trying to get Maa treated chasing hope through hospital corridors, saving every scrap of strength and money I could. Somehow, it never worked out. But I can’t stop trying — it’s the only thing that keeps me going. Every month, I save what little I can, cutting corners everywhere, telling myself that one day I’ll take her abroad for proper treatment. Maybe then, she’ll finally heal. Maybe then, I’ll finally breathe. Today I got my salary. After all the deductions — EMIs, rent, bank cuts, what’s left is barely enough to stretch through the month. Groceries, bills, medicines… it’s a math I still haven’t mastered. Still, from whatever little money I earned at the academy, I managed to buy her medicines for two months.
